BC Transit has agreed to delay moving its bus stop at the Village Green Centre until April 1, following a letter from Vernon city council. Council had protested a plan move the bus stop from the food court doors to nearby 48th Avenue, concerned that seniors and people with mobility issues will have to walk through the parking lot in winter conditions. “I guess council voicing their displeasure got the ball rolling with transit and the mall,” said Mayor Akbal Mund, adding a number of letters were sent out. While the mayor is not sure where the bus stop will go, the city has suggested the buses stop at an entrance to The Hudson's Bay and then exit at the lights on 48th. BC Transit had rejected that plan in the past. It is not known if that option is being reconsidered.
