Lori Anderson had a surprise visitor to her Middleton Mountain home on the weekend – a bobcat. Anderson posted pictures of the large cat as it meandered through her backyard Saturday. She said the cat “walked right across my back deck and up into the yard.” The post prompted a flurry of messages ranging from people being in awe of the predator to others warning Anderson to keep her pets indoors – which Anderson said she is doing. Several people also shared their own bobcat stories, proving the cats are active in the area. According to bcadventures.com, bobcats can be found throughout the country and the Okanagan is home to many of the wildcats. The Okanagan is also home to cougars and lynx. The average weight of a bobcat is 15-35 pounds with the male being larger than the female.A bobcat hunts smaller animals including rodents, hares, squirrels and birds.
