The new plan for a dangerous Vernon intersection could be ready for public viewing in the next few weeks. Vernon Monashee MLA Eric Foster says Transportation Ministry staff are finalizing the latest design for Highway 97 and Stickle Road. "We're at the fine details part of the planning. In principal, I think we are where we need to be and now it's the technical people doing their thing," Foster tells Kiss FM. Two previous plans have been rejected by the public and local politicians. Initially, many people wanted a traffic light at the site but the Ministry rejected that idea, concerned it would slow down traffic and cause more fender bender crashes. The new proposal is expected to include extending 20th Street near RONA to Volkswagen, to provide a safer north-south route for vehicles.
