There is one less liquor store in downtown Vernon. Kalamalka Wine and Spirits on 30th Street has been demolished, and will be converted into parking, as part of the new plan for several co-owned businesses on that block. Owner Steve Pauls says he will also be tearing down the 30th Street Liquor Store across the street, once that store has been moved into the former Monashee's building, by this summer. "Lots of specialty items and rare products and vintages coming. We are asking for input via our Facebook page for suggestions of products people would like us to carry, or source out for them," Pauls tells Kiss FM in an email. Pauls, who also owns the Kal Sports Bar, says with the former Bennett parking lot becoming a new residential care complex, there is a need for more parking in that area.
