Predator Liquor Agency Store Up For Input

Public input is being sought on plans for a rural agency liquor store at Predator Ridge. The BC Liquor Branch is seeking comments until March 23rd.Vernon council supported the idea back in 2014. Brad Pelletier, vice president of Wesbild, the company that owns of Predator Ridge, says they first applied for the license two years ago. "The only thing that we ever talked about was having it within our market, a grocery store. It would just be in a corner of that. it would not be a stand alone store," Pelletier tells Kiss FM. Pelletier says having a rural agency outlet would allow their residents and visitors to buy alcohol without having to drive 13 kilometres to the nearest stores in Vernon. "We presently serve alcohol in five locations. I'm not interested in this to make money. I'm interested in it as a service for our residents and the guests we attract from the country and internationally." Pelletier says he thought their proposal was dead, considering how long it took to get to this stage, about two years. The resort -- which is part of the City of Vernon -- has about 700 housing units, and attracts 130,000 visitors a year in conjunction with Sparkling Hill Resort.
