After several tries, and a few changes, Vernon council has approved new gateway signs for the entrances to the city. The signs will have a wood panel covering, and include the City's logo, and the word "Welcome" in both English and French on the front, with the city logo and "Come again" on the back. Mayor Akbal Mund says they will replace the current Welcome to Greater Vernon signs on Highways 6 and 97, plus a new site by the Army Camp. "To take the old one down, I don't think will take more than a day. That will be easy, but the new ones, I'm sure we could probably have them up before we hit our prime summer season," Mund tells Kiss FM. Council asked staff to make several changes to the look and wording the last couple months. Councillor Brian Quiring is satisfied with the look. "I think they've come a long way. I like them. They addressed our concerns in terms of the reflectivity of the previous proposal, and I think they are going to look great." 55-thousand dollars was budgeted for the new signs.
