The ongoing stalemate in talks between the City of Vernon and Okanagan Equestrian Society over the future of Kin Race track is heading to the courts. Negotiations outside the legal system have failed to come up with a decision agreeable to both sides. Mayor Akbal Mund says now the courts will have to decide. "All we can tell you is that we will be proceeding with litigation to try to resolve this." Mund says litigation appears to be the only way to reach a resolution. "Council had said that if we need to move forward, which we want to, that's something that we will move forward on. Those talks will be done between lawyers from each group and we will see how it works." "We tried to do the right thing and tried to do it outside of court and if we can't do it outside of court, then we have to take it to court, right." Equestrian Society President Robin Dalziel says they have not had any contact with the city over any negotiations at all this year.
