The Greater Vernon Museum and Archives is finally getting a new roof.Costly leaks have been happening in recent times so GVAC approved spending $60-thousand dollars last week for a replacement roof.In the meantime, the search is on for a possible new location for the museum and Vernon art gallery.GVAC Chair Juliette Cunningham says no specific property has been decided on yet."We'll see if it's going to be feasible to be co-located. If at that point we will see what space requirements are and then look at what properties are available to accommodate that."The art gallery is hoping to relocate from the parkade to a site opposite Cenotaph Park where a flower shop used to be.Cunningham says it is a site being considered."There's nothing saying that may not happen. One of our goals is to try and build a more multi-use facility for culture. We are looking at perhaps having a black box space which is a common area that can be used by other groups in the community. We are looking at all those options."Cunningham says the roof replacement was a necessary expenditure. "Even if we were to go to referendum in the near future, those buildings don't get built overnight. It's prudent to still replace that roof. We did receive a $100,000 grant from the Federal Government so we think it is good value for the community."
