Communities throughout BC are sharing in nearly $108 million dollars in funding announced today (Thursday) to support policing and safety measures as well as community services and projects. The money is provide through the Small Community Grant, Regional District Grant and Traffic Fine Revenue Sharing grant. The City of Vernon is getting $523 thousand dollars in traffic fine revenue. Salmon Arm gets $378 thousand from traffic fines and a small community grant. Armstrong is getting $541-thousand, Enderby $444-thousand, Lumby $371-thousand and Lake Country $396-thousand. The Regional District North Okanagan is in line for $167-thousand while the Columbia-Shuswap Regional District benefits from $158-thousand.

Vernon has budgeted to receive $488,000. This extra $34,932 received in 2016 should flow into the RCMP Reserve. ( $522,932 is actual amount received.)
