Water sources are changing for some Greater Vernon residents.

The Kalamalka Lake water source will be shut down Wednesday so a power transformer can be replaced at the Mission Hill treatment plant. “This planned project is to be completed by Oct. 14,” said Renee Clark, Regional District of North Okanagan water quality manager. All Greater Vernon Water customers will be switched to the Duteau Creek water treatment plant for the duration of this work. Customers who are not normally on the Duteau plant will notice the water is much softer and the water has a low alkalinity and pH. This may be of interest to those customers who have in-home water treatment systems or aquariums.
