Reservoir Levels 'Above Average'

All the recent rain hasn't be great for sun lovers -- but it has helped Greater Vernon's water supply. Jennifer Miles, Water sustainability coordinator wit the Regional District of North Okanagan, says the levels of their reservoirs are above average for this time of year. She says that's a positive thing, not knowing what the weather will be like next year. "By having good storage n the winter time, it means we don't have to fill up as much in the spring. We don't have to rely on as much rain input to reach our peak fill, so it's always good to have storage as our insurance policy," says Miles. Miles says water demand takes a big drop in mid-September when agricultural water is turned off. Miles adds they have been able to stay on normal water restrictions throughout the year, which allows three days of watering a week.
