City of Vernon staff will reveal details on the Kalamalka Lake Road capital project Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at city hall. “It will provide further information on the full design. Property owners and adjacent property owners will be able to see what is proposed,” said Amanda Watson, transportation manager. One thing that will not be on the agenda, though, is potentially scrapping the project or reversing closures for the work. City council recently voted to extend the Kal Lake Road upgrades, from Browne Road to the Coldstream boundary, by 12 to 14 hours per day over six days a week. That will shorten construction from 12 to 16 weeks to nine to 13 weeks. Many of the businesses have stated that road closures of any length will drive customers away. Watson admits some businesses and residents may still register their opposition during Thursday’s information session. “This is something that happens regularly with projects. We get people out and we are there to talk to them,” she said.
