The Greater Vernon Advisory Committee will consider providing a grant to the Caetani Cultural Centre in Vernon. The 120 year old house on Pleasant Valley Road has requested 35-thousand dollars to help with asbestos removal and electrical upgrades from their building which will open to the public in June. The group will be asked to formally apply for a grant, which will go through the normal review process. Susan Brandoli from the Centre told GVAC in March, the funding would also allow greater community access and additional opportunities for fundraising. “It may put them in the right direction to make more money, and make them more self-sustainable,” says Bob Fleming, GVAC director. The Centre was recently awarded a BC Gaming grant of 75-thousand dollars.
