RCMP say a charge of `dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death' has been laid against 26-year-old Chase Donaldson of Coldstream in connection to the death of 22-year-old woman walking to work on Friday night. Police spokesman Gord Molendyk confirms speed was a factor in the accident and that the victim, Kiera-Leigh Carlson, had been walking correctly -- facing oncoming traffic -- on the west shoulder of Aberdeen Road toward Highway 6 when she was struck from behind. The coroner says an autopsy is to be conducted early this week to determine whether or not Carlson was killed upon impact. Her body was not found until 6am Saturday morning.
Meanwhile Club 29-29 is holding a special memorial on Thursday night for Kiera, who'd worked at the downtown Vernon venue for the past three years. A funeral is being held in Armstrong on Saturday.
Donaldson is to return to court on June 10th.

Can you update on what's happening with this tragic event. Curious to know if they determined how he was on the wrong side of the road and what sentence or at least how the trial is progressing?
I can find no update on this event. Will post when I see something.
There was a court date on June 29 and was post poned.. The most recent court date was on july 30th which was also postponed to a later date.. he is also being charged with failure to remain at the scene. I think the next court day is when he enters his plea.
