The BC Fruit Growers Association has given one of its highest honours to a Coldstream resident.Jamie Kidston has run a 40 acre orchard since 1977, land that has been in his family since 1904.
He was also a long time board member of the Vernon Fruit Union and Growers Coop packing houses, and for Sun Rype Products before it became a listed company. Kidston was presented with the BCFGA's Life Member Award Thursday in Kelowna, which his dad James also received in 1985. The BC Fruit Growers Association also honoured Vernon Morning Star reporter Richard Rolke Thursday with its Press Award, recognizing his professional reporting on the tree fruit industry. "Picking fruit, and all of the related activities, was the only job I had until I decided to pick up pen and notepad."
