It's time to get the red pens out as local councils work down their budgets. Coldstream mayor Jim Garlick says at this point they're just getting things set up. He tells Kiss FM, "We have some increases through transit and
policing costs. There was some decreases in utilities, so we are around a
six percent increase." He says that amounts to an extra 240 thousand dollars in spending. Of that, one percent was for the new transit facility in Vernon, and
Garlick notes, a lot of their costs they have no control over, like
policing which is forecast to increase yearly.
