It's about a month behind the original schedule, but plans are now set for opening Vernon's new transit terminus. The facility  on 31st Avenue --by Cenotaph Park--will be opened on April 20th, with operations starting on the 29th. That's also when the new transit schedule and evening routes will begin.  City council has budgeted an extra 80-thousand dollars to add service later into the evenings, along with buses on Canada Day and Remembrance Day. BC Transit will be adding the shelters soon. Bus users will have to make a few adjustments from the current terminus on Coldstream Avenue near the downtown Safeway. City engineer Mark Dowhaniuk says the total cost for the project-- including upgrading city services on that street--- was 800-thousand dollars, part of which BC Transit paid for.

Don Quixote Note: The Normal split for capital projects is 53% City Taxpayers, 47% B.C. Transit. A $800,000 project would cost the city taxpayers $424,000.
