The 26 year old man accused in the death of 18 year old Taylor Van Diest of Armstrong is to make his first court appearance this morning in Kelowna provincial court. Matthew Stephen Foerster, a one time Cherryville resident, is facing a second degree murder charge in the Halloween killing, as well as sexual assault in an attack on a Kelowna escort worker in 2005 and an attack on a 19 year old Cherryville woman the year before. Foerster was picked up last Wednesday in Collingwood, Ontario. Foerster's 58 year old father, Stephen Roy Foerster, made a first appearance in Vernon court last Thursday, he's facing accessory and obstruction charges and returns to court tomorrow . RCMP say the arrest came after a DNA match from the killing and the Kelowna assault.

A man accused in the death of an Armstrong teenager made his first court appearance today in Kelowna. Former Cherryville resident Matthew Foerster is charged with
the second-degree murder of 18-year-old Taylor Van Diest on Halloween
night, 2011. Foerster is also charged with sexual assault and unlawful
confinement linked to an alleged incident in 2005 at a Kelowna escort
agency, and in a 2004 home invasion that injured a 19-year-old woman in
Cherryville. The 26 year old's case was put over until May 10th, and he
was remanded is custody at the Kamloops Regional Correctional Facility. His father, 58-year-old Cherryville resident Stephen Roy
Foerster will be in Vernon court tomorrow, facing accessory and
obstruction charges in the same case.
