Motorhome: drug house on wheels

by Grant Scott - Castanet Apr 5, 2012 / 10:32 am

Two Vernon men were arrested with a large cache of drugs and cash Wednesday morning thanks to a concerned citizen who noticed some suspicious activity in their neighbourhood. Vernon's Downtown Enforcement unit began a search for an older motor-home which was possibly involved with drug trafficking after the tip came around 10:00 a.m. The unit started searching for the motor-home near a residence in the 3300 block of 35th Ave. About an hour later, officers located the suspect vehicle travelling near 24th Avenue and pulled it over. The officers had reasonable grounds to believe they were in possession of drugs and all four occupants were arrested. A search of the vehicle found almost $4000 in cash, weapons and drugs, including crystal methamphetamine, crack cocaine, and one bag of suspected heroin. Two of the four were eventually released, however the other two, both prolific offenders, one in his 30’s and the second 33 years-old, were held to face charges.
