Sports Complex Still Under Review

Sports facility There's still no word when Greater Vernon residents could be voting on a proposal for a sports complex next to Okanagan College in Coldstream.  Regional district staff are looking into a referendum process for a running track and playing field on ten acres of farm land owned by the college. RDNO administrator Trafford Hall says the idea will go to the public at some point. "And if the public does not consent to that then that will change significantly both the timing of our plans, and the scope and scale of our plans, so we are working on it but I can't give the time of that referendum." The complex --first proposed in the fall of 2010-- would cost $7.8 million. The college has approval from the agricultural land commission to use ten acres of farm land for the facility.
