Vernon's bike patrol has already been on the streets for two weeks, rolling up the numbers. Coordinator Rachael Zubick says they've recovered 76 discarded needles. " They've contacted 1,261 people, they've also recovered 330 crack bags and they've observed 74 instances of new tagging or unwanted graffiti." There are one or two "taggers" that are extremely prolific now, anything that doesn't move is tagged. She points out it's the responsibility of the building owner to clean up, and the sooner the better.
