Organizers say Vernon's Canada Day fireworks show will be the biggest and most ambitious to date.
Event chair Terry Schmauder says the display will last about 15 minutes and cost around 25-thousand dollars, funded by donations and grants. "We're really excited about being able to put on a properly choreographed show. It's Canada's 145th birthday, and the Diamond Jubilee for the Queen so we're trying to put on a bigger event." Schmauder says a digital firing system will allow the show to be choreographed with music broadcast on Kiss FM. "It will be done in a very professional manner." The show will be held July 1st at 10:15 pm from the DND. Among the key donors for the show are $10,000 from the city of Vernon, $3,300 from Kal Tire, and $2,000 from Funtastic, and $4,500 from the federal government. There will be free Park & Ride with BC Transit (return trip) from 9 to 11 pm. People can park For free at the Performing Arts Centre at 3800 - 33 Street and catch BC Transit at the Turnaround (in front of Boys and Girl's Club).
