Driver Cited For Lack Of Interlock

A Vernon driver is facing the possibility of a jail sentence after being caught operating a vehicle without an interlock device. A 31 year old woman was stopped for speeding Friday in the 6000 block of Okanagan Landing Road, and failed a breath test for alcohol. She was driving another person's vehicle, and the RCMP's Gord Molendyk says the woman was under an order to use an interlock, that requires drivers to blow into it, to ensure they're not under the influence. "One of the other charges would be notice to seek greater punishment because obviously there were some previous issues with this driver, so yes, it could be jail time. There's a potential." The car's registered owner, was a passenger. It was one of nine impaired -- or alcohol related driving prohibitions -- issued locally last week. There was four 24 hour suspensions, all for drugs, four impaired charges laid, five immediate roadside prohibitions and six vehicles were impounded for various reasons.
