Homeless Count - Still a need for affordable housing
The annual homeless count took place in Vernon last week. Manager of Shelter Services, Kelly Fehr says they were surprised by their findings. Fehr says this time they didn't find any homeless camps, but that doesn't mean people aren't homeless, they just didn't encounter them. He says the shelters, motels and transition houses continue to be full because there's a real lack of affordable housing in Vernon. Fehr says when they did the first count in 2009 they found 31 people living on the streets.
