The group needs seven million dollars for a three story facility on 31st Avenue, across from Cenotaph Park. Executive director Dauna Kennedy-Grant says the next step is to get support from the Greater Vernon Advisory Committee, and inform the public about the plan. "And you will hear a lot about it now. We're going to have a number of information sessions at the art gallery to try and inform people about what's happening with it and how it's going to benefit the community." Kennedy-Grant says their group plans to start a campaign in the new year to raise up to $400,000 for the facility. But that will still leave more than 6 million needed from governments, and most of that will be asked from local taxpayers. "We feel now is a good time to be doing a project of this size. It's a good project to keep our construction workers going. Now that our hospital is done, we need some smaller projects like this to keep that part of the economy going." The goal has been to open a new venue in time for the Okanagan Print Triennial, an international event, in 2015. It would replace the gallery's current site under the city parkade on 31st Ave
