There won't be a race for the BC Conservative nomination in the Vernon Monashee riding. Local constituency president Ian Tribes says Scott Anderson will be acclaimed at a meeting on Saturday. Anderson, who runs a corporate communications company, will join current MLA Eric Foster of the Liberals and New Democrat Mark Olsen as declared candidates for next May's election.
Meantime, the embattled leader of the BC Conservatives will be in Vernon this weekend. John Cummins, who is still facing a backlash from some party members, will attend a town hall meeting Saturday night from 6 to 8 at the Schubert Centre. He will speak along with Anderson and former MP Darrel Stinson.
