The City of Vernon has hired KPMG to review the City’s operations and
service delivery to
identify cost-saving opportunities and areas for potential improvements,
as per the project plan and contract. This includes, for example, a
review of the City’s organizational structure, the size of its workforce
and its costs and services. It also includes a review of the capital
budget process to recommend a sustainable, long-term strategy to
successful infrastructure replacement.
On November 26, KPMG presented its Phase One Summary Report of the Core Service Review Project. Phase 1 includes discussion with City Project Team on Scope. Read the Phase 1 Report Here:

There will be several opportunities for public input:
1) Read the “Service Profiles” that will be posted
onto the City’s website in January 2013 (exact date to be announced).
They will describe the services the City provides, the level of
service provided and the associated costs.
2) Send feedback or suggestions directly to KPMG at covcsr@kpmg.ca.
They are particularly interested in identifying “Opportunities”
(i.e.: ways to reduce costs or improve revenues in order to contain
property taxes and allow investments where needed)
3) Attend a “Public Workshop” (date to be announced) in late January or early February 2013
