The project will include:
- a high-quality, regulation sized synthetic track, which will have a long life and meet all International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) requirements;
- one regulation-sized synthetic turf field, appropriate for football, soccer, rugby, lacrosse and field hockey;
- one natural turf field;
- seating for four-hundred spectators;
- four change rooms, showers and washroom facilities;
- classroom and meeting room;
On April 6th, Greater Vernon residents will be going to referendum to decide whether they consent to have the Regional District of North Okanagan borrow up to $7.53M to construct a sports facility on land next to Okanagan College.
Like all Greater Vernon parks and facilities, the proposed facility will have an annual cost to operate and maintain it. Maintenance costs have been estimated at $40,000 for site maintenance, which includes natural turf, garbage, security, shower room and bleachers. The maintenance for the artificial turf is estimated at $11,000.
