Lumby Ratepayers Face 3% Hike

Written by Glen Morrison Wednesday, 06 February 2013 10:23
Lumby council has given it's approval to this year's budget and 5 year financial plan. Mayor Kevin Acton says it will be around a three percent tax increase, with all the extra funds gong into reserves. "This council is awesome. They're working very hard at putting away money for our one-third (cost sharing) policy to make sure we have our share to repair our infrastructure," Acton tells Kiss FM. Acton says it's a provincial  problem, with no local government having the ready cash to repair infrastructure. "We want to make sure we're not one of them, when it hits the fan." The average homeowner will face an increase of $1.94 a month, or about $23 a year.
