Residents in Vernon will be allowed to conduct controlled burns on
their property, providing their property is the right size and they have
bought a permit from the city. The burning will be allowed between Feb. 28 and April 30, but residents
must own property that is at least five acres in size (or two hectares)
and they must purchased a $75 permit from city hall. They must also
follow two sets of regulations that can be found on the city of Vernon website.
Burning without a permit is subject to fines ranging up to $1,000 if
Vernon Fire Rescue Services must be called to the scene for any reason.
