There will have to be more cost cutting at the Vernon School District. Board chair Bill Turanski says enrolment for the district is expected to be down 176 students this fall. "Funding is based on a per-student basis, so this is pretty critical," he said to Kiss FM. Turanski says they're also faced with unavoidable higher costs for medical service premiums, pension plans, and utilities. He says the bottom line is a projected 2.2 million dollar shortfall, and that will mean cuts. "This will almost certanly impact programs, so it looks rather gloomy."
