BC police departments are holding a province-wide gun amnesty through the month of June. It allows residents to safely dispose of unwanted firearms, knives, other weapons and ammunition, without facing charges. Deputy RCMP Commissioner Craig Callens says the program will make homes safer. "We as police officers know full well the effects and impacts of having firearms inside homes, particularly if they are unsecured. Turning in unwanted firearms will eliminate the risks these weapons pose," he says. People wanting to turn in weapons are asked to call their local police on the non-emergency line to set up a time for officers to pick up the items. For security reasons, residents are advised not to take the weapons to police themselves. DON QUIXOTE VS. CITY HALL When an American gets mad, he says "where's my Gun". When a Canadian gets pissed off he says "Where is my pen, I'm going to send a letter to the EDITOR". When the EDITOR won't publish his letter he sets up his own BLOG page. When I received enough support to get a Council Seat the dogma of the establishment became : "Better to have him inside the tent pissing out, than outside pissing in." (Only time will tell !)
