Lumby threatened with legal action over flooding

The Village of Lumby could be held responsible for ongoing flooding damage. Some residents are angered over ongoing high water levels on Duteau Creek. "We have been threatened with a lawsuit," said Mayor Kevin Acton. "People are talking class action lawsuit." While the village is the official diking authority, Acton insists the Regional District of North Okanagan controls water flow on Duteau Creek and if it's not taking action to alleviate flooding, it should be held responsible. "The village has now authority over water going through the community," he said. Look for more in Friday's Morning Star.
