A dispute over use of a Vernon park has been dormant the last few months, but it could heat up again. The Okanagan Equestrian Society has been fighting for use of Kin Race Track with the Regional District of North Okanagan and Vernon for three years, until the parties agreed to put it aside back in February. Ed Woolley from the society says they want to keep using the track for their summer horse races which saw a resurgence this year. "There's no reason to think it's going to go anywhere. We had very succesful days, and our third race day was probably our largest attendance in the last ten years," says Woolley. Woolley is looking to meet with local government officials to see if the recent change in local government facility ownership, with the region turning certain facilities over to the city to run, will affect their dispute over the park. The question is will that change their approach to this or not? And that is something for them to know, and for us to find out I guess," says Woolley. The legal action has been ongoing since the society was evicted from the park in 2010 due to RDNO wanting the use the land for other purposes.
