Rail Line Process To Next Step

Written by Peter McIntyre 107.5 KISSFM Wednesday, 05 February 2014 06:00
Canadian National continues to discuss offers for keeping the rail line between Vernon and Kelowna operating. The track has been quiet since July when the last operator, Kelowna Pacific Railway, went into receivership. C-N spokesperson Emily Hamer says several interested parties have made conditional offers. "If an agreement is not reached by June 2nd, we move forward with the federally regulated process, and on June 2nd we would begin working with the federal government to offer them an opportunity on the line." Hamer says a deadline in the process recently passed. "Thursday was the last day for interested parties to submit conditional offers on the line, and we're working with those parties to review their offers." Hamer says details about how many companies are interested -- or who they are -- are not being released.
