It's a year since Bill's Place, a sober living facility for men opened on Vernon's 43d Avenue. Addictions director Brad Houghton says it's the only facility of it's kind in the North Okanagan. He says "Just over 60 guys come through our program, some make it all the way through, some not so much, but you know in general it's been amazing to see the changes in some of the guys that have come through." He says some go back to work, others to school and some take on volunteer positions at the house. Houghton says not every case is a success , but they have other programs through their parent, the John Howard Society. He says while there was initial resistance from some neighbours they've had visits from some saying they're surprised there haven't been any issues.
