Crime Wars A Win For RCMP

The head of the Vernon RCMP says the detachment is meeting -- and in some cases exceeding -- their crime reduction targets. Superintendent Reg Burgess says a goal over the last year was to cut criminal code and property crime stats by five percent. He says "We actually achieved a 5.77 percent criminal code crime reduction decrease and an 8.82 percent decrease in property crime, so I classify it as a successful year." Burgess says a focus on prolific offenders is one reason for the reductions.
