There a familiar face leading the Regional District of North Okanagan. Directors announced Wednesday that David Sewell has been hired as the chief administrative officer. He has been the chief financial officer since 2008. "I'm looking forward to the challenge before me," said Sewell, who has 14 years of local government experience. "It will be onwards and upwards in terms of improving the quality of service (to residents)." Sewell replaces Trafford Hall, whose role as administrator was terminated April 10. Sewell was among 50 people who applied for the position and five individuals were interviewed. "It was unanimous and an excellent choice," said director Bob Fleming of the board selecting Sewell. "He knows the issues facing tyne regional district and has a good relationship with the staff and directors. He understands what it takes to get co-operation." Rick Fairbairn, vice-chairperson, is confident with Sewell's ability to lead the organization. "He's shown an ability to collectively bring staff and the board together to a conclusion that makes sense," said Fairbairn. "He emerged as the best candidate." No immediate action will be taken to fill the chief financial officer's position as corporate officer Jeanne Byron will retire at some pint this year. That means Sewell and the board will determine if there is a need for administrative restructuring. "We have had conversations already of what we need," said Sewell.
