Written by Glen Morrison Wednesday, 11 June 2014 06:00
Vernon's Gateway Shelter on 33d Street now has a piece of history on it's facade. With the operators, the John Howard Society, offering, the Welcoming Communities Vernon and Social Planning Council, with government funding, have now installed two sign panels telling the story of Vernon's historic Chinatown. The building was the home of the Chinese Freemasons' and is one of the last buildings left in the historic area, once the largest Chinatown between Vancouver and Calgary.
