Equestrian Group Hopeful For Track Deal

There's some cautious optimism from the Okanagan Equestrian Society about Kin Race Track in Vernon. While they haven't been invited to a City of Vernon planning session next month, the society has been asked to give some input before hand. The society's Ed Woolley says there's positive signs that both sides are looking for a resolution, but it's too soon to say it that will happen, "Until we've had these further meetings with the city of Vernon and the other players involved in this, I don't want to get ahead of myself and be too optimistic," Woolley tells Kiss FM. The society has been locked in a decade-long battle with local governments over keeping the park for horse racing. The fact there were having discussions with the city coming up is definitely a positive sign, and the right things are being said by the right people I would say," says Woolley. Vernon council talked about the track at its special budget meetings earlier this month after the issue was brought up during public input. Councillor Catherine Lord told Kiss FM on January 14, she would like to see the legal dispute settled in some fashion. "It has to be be resolved. It can't just stay in limbo," said Lord. The Equestrian Society will be holding it's AGM Feburary 15th at the Village green Hotel with the whole board up for re-election.
