Leadership within the Electoral Area Advisory Committee has remained stable. Bob Fleming, BX-Swan Lake director, has been acclaimed to a second year as chairperson of the group which oversees issues for the five rural areas in the Regional District of North Okanagan. “We have a new member from Cherryville (Hank Cameron) who is very active and we all have issues of importance in our areas,” said Fleming. In rural Enderby, recreational activities are being reviewed on the Shuswap River and where some form of regulations are needed to reduce conflict. Other issues expected to be on the agenda for 2015 include sewer service at Silver Star, water quality and land use along Swan Lake and an ongoing study into water quality standards at Cosens Bay. “We are also looking at a potential new subdivision on Silver Star Road and we are working on plans for the Kalamalka Lake-Crystal Waters trail,” said Fleming. Mike Macnabb, BX-Silver Star director, will serve as GVAC vice-chairperson for 2015.
