ABERDEEN DAM GRANT APPLICATION

Don Quixote Note:
There has been concern that the RDNO directors were trying to make an end run around the referendum results by proceeding with this project which was one of the  6 Master Works Projects to be paid from the borrowing referendum.  ($6.41 million).  Some people have thought that this is part of this years budget.

This is not the case. RDNO approved applying for a 100% GRANT from the Gov. of Canada Strategic Priorities Fund. They have applied  not only for the cosy of raising the dam by 4m ((6.41 million) but an additional $3 million for raising the dam by another additional meter.

If RDNO gets the 100% Grant then this will reduce the amount required for the existing (Hopefully soon to be changed) Master Water Projects Borrowing by $6.41 Million.

The motion supported by 3 directors for a MORATORIUM (Defeated by a 5-3 vote) was to not proceed with any items in this or past year budget carryovers that would not be required if the Master Water Plan was changed so that all Domestic Water was supplied from MISSION HILL and Duteau water served the Agricultural Irrigation customers only.  (Why throw away good money at any project that isn't necessary under that scenario.

At a Separate Posting I will detail those budget items that should be put on hold awaiting the Master Plan Revisions that may occur. http://vernonblog.blogspot.ca/2015/03/moratorium-vote-on-duteau-related.html
