Coldstream Wins Award For Fourth Straight Year

The District of Coldstream has been recognized for its financial reporting, which is almost becoming an annual event. The municipality has received the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting for a fourth straight year from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. Chief Administrative Officer Trevor Seibel says the prestigious award is for their 2013 annual report and is a significant accomplishment for the district and its management. "Submissions are judged by impartial members of the GFOA's Canadian Review Committee on their ability to meet the high standards of the program, and demonstrate a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate a municipality's financial story," says a District of Coldstream news release.

Vernon's 2012 Annual Report & Budget to be adjudicated by GFOA

Vernon first won the Annual Report Award in 2010 for their 2009 Annual Report ( Judging Process  ) and has annually submitted and been successful every year since. (2011 & 2012). Vernon will be submitting in 2013 their Annual Report for 2012 as well for the first time the 2013 budget. (Distinguished budget award Judging Process ).

The Government Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) awarded a Canadian Award for Financial Reporting to the City of Vernon for its Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2009. The Canadian Award for Financial Reporting program was established to encourage municipal governments throughout Canada to publish high quality financial reports and to provide peer recognition and technical guidance for officials preparing these reports.
In order to be awarded a Canadian Award for Financial Reporting, a government unit must publish an easily readable and efficiently organized annual financial report, whose contents conform to program standards. Such reports should go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles and demonstrate an effort to clearly communicate the municipal government’s financial picture, enhance an understanding of financial reporting by municipal governments, and address user needs.
A Canadian Award for Financial Reporting is valid for a period of one year only. We believe our current report continues to conform to the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting program requirements, and we are submitting it to GFOA. 

Coldstream won an Annual Report Award in 2012 for the 2011 Annual Report. It is unclear whether Coldstream resubmits each year or for which Award(s).
