Pathway to Proceed

http://www.1075kiss.com/whatson/news.jsp
Its not the news residents of Longacre Drive wanted to hear.City council has voted 6 to 1 to proceed with the original plan for the Ellison Parkway multi-use path in Okanagan Landing.Nearby residents had proposed two alternatives, but city staff were concerned those would not have been supported by the Agricultural Land Commission .Resident's spokesman Mike Roberts agrees new pathways are needed, but he feels the city should have further explored the other locations.Roberts says, 'There's some alternatives that were brought up, I met with the land commission inVancouver last week, and they would look at upon application. They definitely do not want to chop upAgricultural Land but they are willing to make some adjustments once they see it in paper."The decision does NOT mean the proposed Ellison Parkway connector road will also proceed. That will be re-evaluated as part of the city's upcoming review of the Official Community Plan.(Pete McIntyre July 25)
