Pretty Parking Lot http://www.vernon.thesun.net/node/382499

There are two sets of rules. One for the city, one for developers. Vernon Councillor Barry Beardsell is frustrated that the city is just going to pave the former Coldstream Hotel parking lot and not do any landscaping. The city is spending almost 85-thousand dollars to create more parking. Beardsell says a developer would be asked to spend the extra money for beautification. He also wants to see the Bennett parking lot spruced up. Betty Selin, Standard Radio News

The Vernon and Districts Taxpayers Association is backing Landing residents in their fight with the city of Vernon over sewer connections. The Association is disappointed at the vote taken by Vernon Council this week not to fund the equipment and connections for Landing residents to the City's sanitary sewer mains. The Association hopes that Council will reconsider its decision.
The association says if they don't change their mind council will force Landing residents to seek a legal remedy. The group says they have the documents from before the referendum stating Landing residents would not have to pay for sewer. Betty Selin, Standard Radio News
