A raise in pay for Premier Gordon Campbell's top officials is raising concern to those representing the Canadian taxpayer. Raises of up to 12 percent for some staff is required to keep them from fleeing to the private sector. That according to Premier Campbell who rewarded his high level staff with significant pay increases raising some concern from the canadian taxpayers federation.B.C. director Sara Macintyre says the Canadian public has reason to be concerned as well. "It is the taxpayer that are paying and footing the bills for all of these salaries and these are people that are lucky if they're getting a cost of living adjustment each and every year and yet they're paying for increases for some individuals in the range of 40 percent." Macintyre says a raise is fair enough, but the amount handed down today is excessive. Jul, 22 2006 - 1:20 AM VANCOUVER/CKNW(AM980) cknw news
