Sasha Lakovic, a career minor leaguer, who spent parts of three seasons in the NHL has been charged with assault. The charge stems from an incident at the Vernon Lodge August 8 in connection with an assault on a hotel security guard. RCMP allege at the time of the incident, the guard was attending the suspect’s motel room a second time in response to noise complaints when he was assaulted. Police say that he was pulled into the room and assaulted repeatedly about the face. A short struggle resulted in damage to the premises. According to RCMP, the suspect’s girlfriend and children were in the room at the time of the assault. Lakovic spent 12 seasons in professional hockey, mostly in the minors. He played 39 games in the NHL with Calgary and New Jersey from 1996 through 99.
