Water Distribution System Re-allocation of Services

NORD Press Release DATE: SEPTEMBER 14, 2006 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MEDIA CONTACT: MAYOR WAYNE LIPPERT, MAYOR GARY CORNER, REGIONAL DISTRICT CHAIR STAN FIELD, AREA “B” DIRECTOR CLIFF KANESTER

Water Distribution System Re-allocation of Services The City of Vernon, District of Coldstream and Electoral Areas “B” & “C” of the Regional District of North Okanagan, are pleased to announce that it has been agreed in principle to have each jurisdiction manage its own water distribution system and have Greater Vernon Water continue to be responsible for the sub-region’s bulk water supply and treatment. This re-allocation of responsibilities should enhance customer service. The details of this amendment to the GVW scope of services are being advanced by the GVSC partners. “This is a great example of how the partners in GVW have worked together to provide the utmost service and efficiency for our residents.” Mayor Wayne Lippert, City of Vernon. “This is a co operative agreement between the four partners that could allow each area the ability to manage their own water distribution which could result in less confusion and better service for all of our customers.” Mayor Corner, District of Coldstream. “Our residents have said they want us to run our own operations. The change in responsibilities could be a good thing.” Electoral Area “B” Director Cliff Kanester , RDNO.
