Vernon's Housing Committee is looking for new ideas to 
solve the housing crisis.
Committee member Annette Sharkey says all levels of government need to get involved. The Committee has applied for a grant from the Union of BC municipalities. She's hoping they will be able to hire a consultant to create a housing strategy involving the community and government.
BC housing is offering families some relief from rent in the Rental Assistance Program. Families in Vernon can apply to be reimbursed up to $705 dollars a month. BC Housing representative Peter Chau says the money doesn't solve the affordable housing shortage but it does help pay the rent..
