This thank you was wrapped in chocolate. People living in the 2500 block of 37th Avenue in Vernon had a unique way to thank RCMP for shutting down a drug house in their neighbourhood. Residents showed up at the Vernon RCMP office with a chocolate cake to show their appreciation. Neighbours in the area have been complaining to police since the summer about activities at the house. Police were finally able to gather enough evidence to obtain a warrant and raid the home. Five people were arrested during Sunday's bust. The home has been deemed inhabitable until it is brought up to standards at the expense of the landlord. According to Vernon officials, this is the 10th drug house within city limits that has been shut down under a new by-law aimed at cracking down on drug houses.
